Rumpus Room is an artist-led initiative working in collaboration with children and young people on art and social action projects. Rumpus Room Studio is on Langside Lane in Govanhill. The studio is co-run by artists and young studio members, hosting a programme of art and social action projects, developed with and for children & young people in Govanhill and across Scotland.
Rumpus Room was formed by artists Catrin Jeans, Nadia Rossi and Rachel Walker in 2018 as an experiment into the benefits of establishing a long-term social art project working in partnership with collaborators in the neighbourhood where they live. RR collaborators are: children, young people, families, artists, educators, activists, youth workers, other grassroots organisations and anyone else who comes through the studio door.
The studio programme is shaped by all of those who become a part of it. It is a space for people to come together to make art and social action in our community that focuses on experimentation, cooperation and mutual learning: a place where everyone is teaching and everyone is learning.
